Everything
Put Together
Were it not for
the overexposed handheld cinematography, tripped-out soundtrack, extended
nightmare sequences and the presence of Pitch Black's Radha Mitchell (who also gets an associate producer
credit), this film could just as easily be airing on the Hallmark Channel as SIDS:
The Silent Killer. According to this film, sudden
infant death syndrome also results in the parents' being shunned by all their
friends, at least until the next pregnancy comes along. As the mother who loses
her infant, Mitchell has nightmares, mopes, then has
more nightmares. That's it -- the whole plot. Actors, of course, love to play
scenes in which they brood and go crazy, without having any concept that the
audience may not be having as much fun. Roberto Schaefer's cinematography keeps
things visually interesting, but spending an hour and a half with a gloomy,
static lunatic hardly makes for a scintillating evening out, no matter how
pretty she may be.
