Long
Time Since
The title could refer to the duration that's passed between now
and the last time we saw Paulina Porizkova in a major film role, but looking at
her upcoming Internet Movie Database credits, it appears that the Czech
supermodel is ready to get serious about acting roles again. She's perfectly
respectable in this 1997 indie finally making its way to local screens as a
woman trying to recall a crime she may or may not have witnessed some two
decades previous on New Year's Eve. There's very little to the plot, per se --
this flick's all about mood. Most of the film's shots are extreme closeups on
minor details, or dreamlike images, as the characters talk offscreen. It's a visually
poetic style, and likely to find hardcore devotees, especially among the ranks
of Terence Malick and Marc Forster fans. Others will just find it painfully
slow (even at less than an hour and a half), but you'll know where you stand
after about five minutes.
