When I first started reading other peoples’ blogs, I noticed many of them had a “tip jar” or donation link where you could theoretically pay them some money if you like their site. That used to strike me as obnoxious, much as it does now when bloggers complain that they should be being paid for what they do, or treated like serious journalists even when all they do is paste links from major newspapers and add “commentary” about how it’s liberally biased or whatever.
This was before I had major surgery.
Let me be blunt: You do not owe me anything if you enjoy this site. I have always seen this site as a gigantic infomercial for myself. Readers should not feel obliged to pay me anything.
That said, if I have any readers who are well off — you should know that I am not. This site costs about $25 a month, and I have several medical bills to pay.
