I hated the movie for it's campyness. That said I always thought Alfred and Bruce had a father/son thing goin on. I don't know if you've told your father you love him... but as someone who likes B&R, you get points just for having one.

Seriously, thoug. The purposedfull ruination of the Batman mythos is not a point in it's favor. Was your review sarcastic?

Re. "the homoerotic scene in which Bruce Wayne kisses him and says he loves him". You must either be gay to find this erotic or naively homophobic. Of course Bruce loves Alfred and vice versa. They're just too busy being tough guys, each in their own way, to say it - but the poor old fart was dying after all. In the middle of a crappy film it was a cheesily touching moment. Shame on you for being too much of a tough guy to admit you felt anything except the need to assert your maleness. Alfred would be ashamed.

You will be hard pressed to find a bigger batman lover/fan/freak than I am.And that is why i despise this horrible film.It is so far off from everything that makes batman so awesome.I am useually fairly easy to satisfy with live action comic movies, like all the marvel flicks to date and DC too.The Flash tv show was great to me even though a lot of fanboys bash it.So when I bash a comicbook flick it has to be very bad.The 1992 Captain america movie was 10 times better than this crap.Batman Begins is the best batman ever.Chris Bale was terrific.Summed up,Batman & Robin sucks!!

"the worst crime of all...making Barbara Gordon (a la Batgirl) a blonde"

not such a bad crime when you consider that she wasn't actually playing Barbara Gordon at all. The character was named Barbara Wilson, and was Alfred's niece.

i actually just bought batman&robin on dvd for $2, and didn't at all regret that purchase. i like ANYTHING batman, although i do see this one as weaker. it's fun, though. the pamela isley portions, despite john glover being great, are tough to take. oh well.

my main problem was "&robin." i don't like chris o'donnell at all. if this had just been clooney's batman, possibly with batgirl coming in at the end, the movie would have been a lot stronger. though the title wouldn't have made much sense.

here's more towards not everyone being in on the joke: i was reading some article in '97 with all the cast being interviewed, and vendela was talking about taking loads of acting classes. for her brief and, unless i'm mistaken, wholly silent stint as a woman suspended motionlessly in a frozen bacta tank and a tiny snippet of wedding footage. when i went to see b&r (a midnight sneak preview at the continental in CO), i remember thinking at the end "she took acting lessons for that?"

Joel Schumacher really brightened up this film and the worst crime of all...making Barbara Gordon (a la Batgirl) a blonde?!? The only redeeming factor in this film was Chris O'Connell's portrayal of Dick Grayson/Robin. Everything else about this third sequel blows!

The only thing I remember about this one at all are those damn bouncy icicles.

That, and the great Smashing Pumpkins songs on the soundtrack.

I agree that Schumacher knew exactly what he was doing every step of the way (although, had he considered the fanboy contention, he might not have). The fault goes entirely to the good ol' WB. And maybe to Akiva Goldsman, too, who's scripts always just sorta suck, even when they win Oscars.

Hmmm...

You've almost convinced me to watch this one. I got pissy about Bane looking like an idiot in the trailers and I boycotted...
