This one is for tomorrow night, and I need to hear today. Last minute, but hey, these things are.
NIGHT WATCH, basically a big-budget Russian version of UNDERWORLD, and the first part of the most expensive Russian fantasy trilogy ever.

that is one confusing movie, and not just because everyone is speaking in russian! And I’d say it’s more constantine than underworld.
This film looks similar to “The City Of Lost Children” with its rich production design. I am interested in going but, I want to know if you can have two guests?
there’s trailers out for day watch, the sequel. i really wish i was in la, i’d totally go. ah well, if you’re reviewing it, it should be released, right? soon? here’s hoping.
Yeah, count me in, yeah, Russians, uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah, kind of subliterate fantasy escapades, uh-huh, yeah, thus would you say I can join you, uh-huh, yeeeeaahhh, unless someone with nicer breasts applies, uh-huh, OR!
Edwin gets it…but I’m pretty sure his breasts are not nicer than Mr. Berg’s.
Yeahhh, uh-huh, I’m shapely, uh-huh, uh-huh, and besides, I’m gonna be kind of busy, yeah, hanging around a coffee shop working on my thesis, deconstructing the oeuvre of Kevin Smith, uh-huh, because I know what’s hot, uh-huh, yeahhhh. Oh, and my associate tells me that she and her mom have decided that digital bats are totally yesterday, uh-huh, uh-huh, thanks anyway, yeahhhh…but how’s about Nanny McPhee, OR!
School tonight… let us know how it goes, though. I’m curious!
i already said that it’s like a ruskie constantine. The annoying part is that there are two unrelated plot paths in the movie that center around two women that sort of look the same. So at some point it becomes very hard to tell if the purpose of a scene is to forward the sub-plot or the main plot. It was offputting.
But the effects, immersive details and mythology were all top notch.
So you’re saying all Russian women look alike?
well those two look like generic russian blondes. for a while I just thought it was one chick who just put her hair up occasionally.
Max is so determined to be different from my perceived shallowness that he actually cannot tell any two women apart any more.
Seriously, tho…the film-makers should have considered having only one of the blondes wear huge glasses, ratehr than both.
