Black as pitch

I always thought the idea behind getting a celebrity spokesperson was to find someone liked by millions to make the message more palatable.

I think the main reason PETA thrives is they get sexy actresses, for instance.

But I just saw an ad for an environmental group that seems to be ass-backwards on the concept. To promote environmentalism, they’ve gotten the joint endorsement of Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson.

Did Ann Coulter and Ward Churchill turn them down?

  • Blindness to what “get a celebrity” really means is widespread – Nationwide use a well known British actor – a particularly unattractive character that he specialises in – to try and persuade customers to use them instead of the typical bank that this guy is supposed to represent – the trouble is he has become associated with Nationwide through over-use –

I like the bank but hate the ad campaign

  • I dunno. Seems to fit into a ‘the environment transcends partisan divides’ category, at least.
