I always thought the idea behind getting a celebrity spokesperson was to find someone liked by millions to make the message more palatable.
I think the main reason PETA thrives is they get sexy actresses, for instance.
But I just saw an ad for an environmental group that seems to be ass-backwards on the concept. To promote environmentalism, they’ve gotten the joint endorsement of Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson.
Did Ann Coulter and Ward Churchill turn them down?

Blindness to what “get a celebrity” really means is widespread – Nationwide use a well known British actor – a particularly unattractive character that he specialises in – to try and persuade customers to use them instead of the typical bank that this guy is supposed to represent – the trouble is he has become associated with Nationwide through over-use –
I like the bank but hate the ad campaign
I dunno. Seems to fit into a ‘the environment transcends partisan divides’ category, at least.
