I saw it last night. As we await the posting of my review to laweekly.com, now might be a good time to recap my interviews with the movie’s director, David Hackl, and star, Tobin Bell.
Review will be linked here later on…
(I can tell you it’s better than part IV…but maybe not by much)
…it may seem obvious that some forms are illegitimate. That’s Drudge’s point here – Hahahaha, they tried to register Mickey Mouse! Fools! But here’s the thing: there are 32 people named “Mickey Mouse” listed in the White Pages nationwide, including two in Florida…
UPDATE: On MSNBC, NBC deputy political director Mark Murray just referred to “Harry Potter” and “Han Solo” as other obviously fake names. There are 77 Harry Potters in the White Pages. No Han Solos, but there is a Hans Solo. And 8 Luke Skywalkers.
Now, if you want to argue that people who name themselves that are too stupid to vote, well, that’s another issue. One the late Cathy Seipp would have had some fun with.
Earlier tonight, I sent the following email to John McCain:
Dear Senator McCain,
I noticed that at a recent rally, Hank Williams Jr. re-wrote the lyrics of his song “Family Tradition” into an endorsement of your campaign, with Governor Palin present. Mr. Williams, as you may or may not know, is also author of a song entitled “If the South Woulda Won,” in which he states that America would be better off if the South had won the Civil War.
I would like to know how you feel about that. Do you endorse such sentiments, or do you repudiate them? Though I am admittedly a supporter of Sen. Obama, I have taken you at your word that you will repudiate remarks of your supporters that cross the line, and that song by Mr. Williams, particularly against an African-American opponent, falls into that category.
Thank you for your consideration,
-Luke Thompson.
I urge others to do the same, and you can do so HERE.
Please spread this around if you agree. The right goes crazy when gangsta rappers with controversial opinions endorse liberals, and we need to do the same when reactionary country musicians support them. It’s not about censoring Hank (which I would oppose), but forcing his chosen candidate to acknowledge whether or not he agrees.
Dave White finally returns to movie-reviewing at Movies.com, where he used to write until the site got bought out and briefly decided to do without him but then they changed their minds and realized his awesomeness. So now he’s back.
We’re on opposite sides, but I couldn’t agree more…
The left envisions an egalitarian society. The right does not. The left values equality above other values because it yearns for an America in which all people have similar amounts of material possessions. This is what propels the left to advocate laws that would force employers to pay women the same wages they pay men not only for the same job but for “comparable” jobs (as if that is objectively ascertainable). The right values equality in opportunity and strongly believes that all people are created equal, but the right values liberty, a man-woman based family and other values above equality.
The left wants a world — and therefore an America — devoid of nuclear weapons. The right wants America to have the best nuclear weapons. The right trusts American might more than universal disarmament.
The left wants to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples for the first time in history. The right wants gays to have equal rights, but to keep marriage defined as man-woman. This, too, constitutes an irreconcilable divide.
I don’t think the right does want gays to have equal rights, but other than that, Dennis, I’m curious why you actively choose to be on the wrong side. Thanks for being honest about it, though.
