I had such high hopes for Alex Rider, too...
So, which movie sucked?

I'll get to that momentarily

Re: Williams, how dare you make fun of an alcoholic? Alcoholism is a DISEASE, mister! And Robin didn't ask to be burdened with the disease any more than he wanted to be burdened with that jawline! So BACK OFF!
Just kidding. Game on, go for it.
Seriously, when you see a film with it's heart as misaligned as this one's appears to be, don't you begin to suspect that substance abuse was a core problem?

Almost the reverse. I begin to suspect lack of substance abuse did it. Robin Williams was consistently funny in the mid '80s when he was apparently on cocaine. After Richard Pryor got clean, he made movies like SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL. When Axl Rose went into therapy, he came out and recorded "The Spaghetti Incident?", then went into exile and fired all his bandmates.
