News that isn't too Awesome

Former ECW world champion Mike Awesome has died, at age 42.

WWE fans may remember him from both the "Invasion" angle (during which he won the Hardcore title) and the first "ECW One Night Stand" show put on by WWE, in which he reprised his feud with Japanese nutcase Masato Tanaka.

Awesome has been retired since One Night Stand. He claimed that WWE offered him a contract to join the new ECW and get squashed by Big Show, but he turned them down.

Given Awesome's physique, I certainly have a theory about the cause of death. But we'll see.

EDIT: Apparently reports have it as a suicide. It's always sad to me when someone with millions of fans feels that unloved.

LYT,

I am a wrestling fan also. My favorite wrestler's are The Destroyer (Dick Beyer) and Ric Flair. I once met Ric Flair (Nice Guy).

A shame about Mike Awesome.

Yea, that is sad, huh? Like Michael Hutchense (SP?? The INXS guy) killing himself over his girlfriend leaving him, apparently. Even celebrities have concerns and miseries.

Ric Flair... WOO!

I thought Hutchence died trying to do the strangulation/masturbation combo.

WHAT?!? I remember him taunting Kurt Angle during the Alliance Days as well as JBL taunting him during his match at the first ECW PPV... I hope it was a peaceful passing.

Yea, you're right. Must've been somebody else. Um... the Seaquest/Never Ending Story 2 guy apparently killed himself after losing a role he thought would revitalize his career, if I remember correctly.

Wish I remember who the first story was about.

Yea David,

Ric Flair asked me where Gold's Gym was in Venice. My hands were greasy from working on car's, and I said, "you're Ric Flair. Can I shake your hand? I am a big wrestling fan." Without a moment's hesitation, Ric Flair shook my hand. I then directed him how to get to Gold's Gym in Venice. He was very nice to me.

I hear that Stone Cold Steve Austin himself is now living in Venice, CA. Would be cool to meet him before he gives anyone of us the Stunner...

I want NO PART of Cold Stone Steve Austin's "STUNNER." I would have to get my Filipino wife to give him a lesson or 2 in manners>>>>LOL.
