Black History Month: Day 22

CCH.jpg

C.C.H. POUNDER

She'll "pounder" you into the ground just by looking at you. Check out that stare!

I've been a fan since the Tales from the Crypt movie DEMON KNIGHT, which incidentally is a great movie for black history month, as it's directed by Ernest Dickerson and stars Jada Pinkett. Also in the cast is the amazing Thomas Haden Church, long before people thought he was Oscar-worthy (except me). And the soundtrack featured the debut of Filter's "Hey Man, Nice Shot" which became a big hit a year later.

DEMON KNIGHT ruled. Dickerson hasn't been as good since.

I remember CCH POUNDER when I first saw her on THE X-FILES as "Agent Lucy Kazdin" in the memorable Duane Barry episode arc in 1994 when the show captured early fans like me who kept talking about THE X-FILES...but no one would listen or take notice.

Their loss...

...and yes, she CCH POUNDER deserves to be on your list. As, she was fantastic on THE SHIELD later in her career.

CCH Pounder first came to my attention in the amazing Bagdad Cafe by Percy Adlon, which IMSC is available on North American dvd via MGM.

Buy it, rent it, you'll be amazed at her starring performance.

I remember Bagdad Cafe...I forgot that she was in that one.

Too bad, the television series version on CBS did not last... (or was she in that one as well?)

I believe Whoopi Goldberg starred in the TV series, and it was much more broadly comedic.
