The full text of Barack Obama's speech tonight

If you didn't see it, please read it.

If Obama were white and southern, I would call this election in the bag as of now. As things are, it'll still require hard work.

But goddamn, I'm proud to support him, no matter what. And I can't remember the last time I said that about a Democrat.

Also, here's video:

ditto. i very much like Obama. very much. moreover, i trust his intellect & reason & judgment to a remarkable degree. such sentiments are scoffed at as 'sentimental' by the jaded class, but so what.

my family was in town from smalltown missouri this week, and it is interesting to gauge their reactions & perspective to the election. mostly lifelong democrats themselves, working class through & through, their subtle mannerisms, implicitly, and more explicitly, their description of midwestern friends & colleagues' banter & shoptalk strongly reinforce the notion that Obama very very very very much has an uphill battle before him. there is nothing guaranteed here.

but my family is voting for him. and I am the only one that a person into labels & simplification might call a liberal in this democrat bunch. they get it. i am proud & moved. i have faith. we fight.

evolution is.

Beautiful speech. One of the best ever. Especially the Kennedy-like declaration about energy independence in 10 years. SWEET!

It was a really good speech. His speech at the last convention inspired me to say we were looking at the first African American president of the US - might happen sooner than I thought though.

I have also said the Dems would have to TRY To lose this election. The primaries were a nightmare, but if Hillary can tone down the nonsense now I think they just need to make sure Obama doesn't up and do something completely insane between now and the election. In this sense I think Hil actually helped because I'm fairly certain if there was any dirt to dig up on Obama she would have thrown it at him by now.

He hit all the right notes - I may not agree with the Dems platform, but this really is exactly the sort of person I want dealing with other countries and I think between Iraq and the trouble stirring with Russia, foriegn policy is going to be HUGE this election.
